Logos Dance Theater - Instructors
April Okken
Studio Director
April has studied dance for over 20 years. She received a BS in Math and a
minor in Dance from Missouri State University. While attending Missouri
State, she was a member of the Sugar Bears Dance Team. As a Sugar Bear,
she danced in Spain, at the Macy' 2001 Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the
National Dance Competition at Walt Disney World which aired on ESPN. April
has performed in Las Vegas, 1996 Olympics, and Theater in the Park. She
choreographs for high school musicals and dance teams. April has been
teaching and choreographing for CYT for the past 5 years.
Rachel Rebottaro
Ballet, Modern, Zumba, Jazz IV
Rachel has trained in classical ballet since she was four years old.
She studied under Kathy and Dennis Landsman at American Dance Center
and danced with the Kansas Regional Ballet for 5 years, throughout
which she also attended summer intensives with KRB, Ballet Magnificat,
and Joffery Midwest. More recently she danced as a trainee of Storling
Dance Theater and completed her fifth season as a company member of
Maxxas Dance Theater with whom she performed at Times Square in
New York. Rachel plans to keep teaching and help expand the dance
program.
Rachel Mears
Tap, Jazz I
Rachel earned her BA in Theatre with Dance Minor from Missouri State
University. She has studied tap and jazz for twenty two years, and has
also been trained in ballet and modern. Rachel currently directs the
theatre and dance program at Dave's Gymnastics Factory in Lee's Summit.
This summer she will be directing and choreographing Teen Angel at St.
Paul's Episcopal Church in Lee's Summit. She recently directed CYT East's
production of The Phantom Tollbooth. Rachel is really looking
forward to working with Logos Dance Theatre this summer! She loves
working with all of CYT's wonderfully talented students!
Kelsey Milbourn
Beginning Ballet, Jazz II & III
Kelsey has been enthralled with a passion for dance for the past
16 years. She has been a member of the ballet youth company at
Danceworks Conservatory and Infinity Company at The Culture House
Academy of Arts. Kelsey has participated in 9 shows at CYT including
Aladdin, Seussical, the Musical and Les Miserables. She loves the fine
arts and plans to continue studying theater and dance at TCU in the
fall. Kelsey has enjoyed teaching such wonderfully enthusiastic
students and wants to continue to glorify God with the gifts He has
given her.
Amy Burns
Combination Classes
Amy has taken dance since she was three years old. Although tap is her
expertise, she has studied jazz, ballet, hip hop, and swing dance.
Amy has been involved with CYT since 2002 and has participated in
over 16 shows. Last April she traveled to NYC to participate in
Project Dance where she performed in Times Square. Amy choreographs
for the choir and ensemble at Kansas City Christian. She enjoys the
opportunities to lead and teach in various outlets.
