Information for the Cast

Production Information

• Cast members are required to be at ALL rehearsals for which they are scheduled and ALL shows.  This includes missing one or two days of school for performances.
• Only conflicts listed on your audition form will be excused at the discretion of the directors.
• If an absence is necessary, in case of illness or emergency, it will only be excused if the Area Coordinator is called for permission. More than two absences may result in dismissal from the show.
• Cast members may not leave rehearsal early unless cleared with the director.
• Cast members will be committed to approximately 50 hours of rehearsal time before move-in and dress rehearsal week.
• Each cast member will be required to pay a mandatory $125 Production Package Fee
  
• Parents are required to attend two parent meetings and to serve a minimum of 20 - 25 hours on a production committee.

Costume Parade - What is it?

The Costume Parade's purpose is two-fold.

• It is an opportunity for the costumers and directors to see the individual completed costumes and to see them with the other characters with whom they will appear on stage. They will then make any appropriate costume changes or additions.
• It is the time for cast members to receive instruction as to how wear their costumes, when and how to make costume changes, and how to care for their costumes during show week.

The Costume Parade is a very important process, and there is much to be accomplished during this time! For this reason, the Costume Parade is strictly closed to everyone but the directors, ACs, costume committee, and makeup chair. Parents, please plan to drop off your children and pick them up at the times assigned below. We ask that you do not wait inside the building. Everyone involved will be very busy; please do not plan to visit with directors or other personnel during this time. If your committee is working at the office that day, we request that you avoid coming into the rehearsal and studio areas.

Cast members and parents are always excited and anxious to see the costumes for the show. Unfortunately, sometimes the anticipation exceeds reality in terms of glamour and fashion! Please realize that these are costumes, not the fashion of today; they will look and fit different from the clothes we are accustomed to wearing every day. Remember that our costumes reflect the times and mood of the show and the vision cast by the directors. Be positive in all comments about the costumes. Remember to appreciate the hours and hours lovingly spent by the costume committee over the past few weeks in order to create over 100 costumes. Complaining or criticizing a costume is not acceptable, unless there is a legitimate issue regarding comfort or inability to perform your part as practiced. If in doubt about whether an issue is appropriate to mention, please talk to your Area Coordinator about it first.

What to wear to the costume parade:

Biker shorts or other close-fitting shorts and a t-shirt to wear under your costume. You will not have the luxury of a private dressing room, so you must wear these items for modesty.

Deodorant on your freshly bathed body, please.

What to bring to the costume parade:

• The assigned shoes, socks, and any other items that you are to provide for each part you are playing. If you need to wear lace-up boots in one scene, and dance shoes in another, bring both!
• Your CYT tub. You must bring a large (laundry-basket-size) plastic tub with a lid, clearly marked with your name. You will bring this tub to EVERY dress rehearsal and show. These tubs keep your costume pieces and other belongings from being lost or damaged. Although you will not be taking your costume home this Saturday, you still need your tub for management of the various costume changes during the Costume Parade.
