Introducing Fall 2020 Studio Tracks!

We are excited to present semester-based theatre classes in our new CYT KC Studio Tracks! Some classes will be held at the CYT Studios, and others will be virtual.

We have four tracks for theatre training for Fall 2020:
  • NEW! Master Voice Track - Students ages 11-18
    • The CYT Master Voice Track is a new opportunity for students to take a private voice lesson with one of our highly trained instructors (Click HERE to see the instructors)! Each student will take private bi-weekly Zoom lessons over a 12-week semester, with a total of 6 hours of private vocal instruction. We’ll work on breathing technique, intonation, placement, and so much more. In addition, all the CYT Master Voice Track students will meet twice a month on Sunday's at the CYT Studios to have “Studio Hour.” In this time, each student will have the opportunity to perform a lesson piece for the combined studio. After their “Studio Hour” performance, each student will receive feedback and constructive criticism from an instructor other than their normally assigned instructor. This time will allow learning from each other as a group and from multiple instructors. At the end of the semester, each student will perform one of their lesson pieces in a live-streamed recital. Participation in the CYT Master Voice Track will qualify students to participate in a fall production. Note: The CYT Master Voice Track will be capped at 20 students this semester to ensure that social distancing can be maintained at the CYT Studios.
  • Workshop Member Track - Students ages 11-18
    • Our workshop track offers flexibility for students to explore different types of training and take classes offered at different times throughout the session
    • Students may take a combination of offerings on this track -- up to 12 hours
    • To be eligible for a Fall 2020 production, workshop track students must take at least six hours
    • We have multiple exciting acting and musical theatre offerings this session. Please click HERE to see all of the workshops for Fall 2020.
  • Traditional Class Track - Students ages 8-18
    • 2 beginner/intermediate-level classes for students ages 8-11 and two for students ages 11-18 via Zoom
    • For Fall 2020, these classes are offered in a 12-week session
  • Musical Theatre Dance Track (through the CYT KC Dance Studio) - Students ages 5-18
    • These classes meet on various days of the week at the CYT Dance Studio

"CYT has been a place where my child feels safe, loved respected and listened to. CYT has shaped her love for the arts and helped her to grow as a child of God. The adult mentors certainly have helped her grow with God."

HEART Program

The HEART (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theater) program is a full inclusion program that provides individuals with special needs the opportunity to participate in classes, shows and camps.

Tuition is waived for HEART students registering for classes and summer camps for the first time. HEART students are also encouraged to audition for and participate in CYT's Broadway-style musicals. CYT is a supportive environment encouraging awareness and learning for all participants.

To see if your student qualifies for a new family scholarship through the HEART program, please contact heartcoordinator@cytkc.org.

Class Policies

Refund Policy
If you withdraw your child from class prior to the start of that class, your tuition will be refunded less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after classes have started.

Registration Information
Classes and teachers are subject to change. If a class fills, waiting lists will be kept and students enrolled in the order that a registration was received if an opening becomes available.

Attendance Policy
If your student will be missing class please email classsupport@cytkc.org or call the CYT office at 913-681-3318. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. Absences for illness will not count against students. There will not be refunds for missed classes.

Auditioning for a Musical Production/Play
Students who are ages 8-18 and enrolled in at least one class during the current session are eligible to audition for any of the productions in that session for which their age qualifies them for.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who are cast in a production are required to attend their CYT classes for the entire session. All communication regarding absences must be done by contacting classsupport@cytkc.org. Absences for illness will not count against students.

COVID Guidelines: We are currently following federal, state (KS) and local (Johnson County) guidelines. As these guidelines change, we will update our policies. This may include a change in instruction method. If this change of method should be needed, there will be no credit, refund, or pro-rate tuition given.

Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather and/or poor road conditions, classes/rehearsals may be canceled for the safety of our students. Cancellations due to weather will be posted on our website: www.cytkc.org. Many times the weather may be dangerous in the mornings, but by class/rehearsal time, road conditions are fine. A decision will be made by 3pm regarding any cancellation of evening activities. If class/rehearsal is canceled for any reason, an email will be sent to all participants. Updates can also be found on CYT’s website: www.cytkc.org, as well as on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. We always encourage checking our website first for the most up-to-date cancellation information.
PLEASE NOTE: CYT Kansas City does not credit, refund, or pro-rate tuition for classes canceled due to inclement weather.
