"CYT has been a place where my child feels safe, loved respected and listened to. CYT has shaped her love for the arts and helped her to grow as a child of God. The adult mentors certainly have helped her grow with God."

HEART Program

The HEART (Helping to Encourage Awareness and Recognition in Theater) program is a full inclusion program that provides individuals with special needs the opportunity to participate in classes, shows and camps.

Tuition is waived for HEART students registering for classes and summer camps for the first time. HEART students are also encouraged to audition for and participate in CYT's Broadway-style musicals. CYT is a supportive environment encouraging awareness and learning for all participants.

To see if your student qualifies for a new family scholarship through the HEART program, please contact heartcoordinator@cytkc.org.

Class Policies

Refund Policy
If you withdraw your child from class prior to the start of that class, your tuition will be refunded less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after classes have started.

Registration Information
Classes and teachers are subject to change. If a class fills, waiting lists will be kept and students enrolled in the order that a registration was received if an opening becomes available.

Attendance Policy
If your student will be missing class please email classsupport@cytkc.org or call the CYT office at 913-681-3318. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. Absences for illness will not count against students. There will not be refunds for missed classes.

Auditioning for a Musical Production/Play
Students who are ages 8-18 and enrolled in at least one class during the current session are eligible to audition for any of the productions in that session for which their age qualifies them for.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who are cast in a production are required to attend their CYT classes for the entire session. All communication regarding absences must be done by contacting classsupport@cytkc.org. Absences for illness will not count against students.

COVID Guidelines: We are currently following federal, state (KS) and local (Johnson County) guidelines. As these guidelines change, we will update our policies. This may include a change in instruction method. If this change of method should be needed, there will be no credit, refund, or pro-rate tuition given.

Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather and/or poor road conditions, classes/rehearsals may be canceled for the safety of our students. Cancellations due to weather will be posted on our website: www.cytkc.org. Many times the weather may be dangerous in the mornings, but by class/rehearsal time, road conditions are fine. A decision will be made by 3pm regarding any cancellation of evening activities. If class/rehearsal is canceled for any reason, an email will be sent to all participants. Updates can also be found on CYT’s website: www.cytkc.org, as well as on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. We always encourage checking our website first for the most up-to-date cancellation information.
PLEASE NOTE: CYT Kansas City does not credit, refund, or pro-rate tuition for classes canceled due to inclement weather.
