NEW for 2019-2020 Season

In addition to our core and specialty theater training classes taught by skilled instructors in five areas around the Kansas City area, we are excited to introduce our new Workshop Track for students ages 11-18!

Traditional 9-week classes will be offered in each area and will meet on Mondays or Thursdays depending on which area you enroll. 9-week classes are recommended for students who have not had much theater training and/or experience. New CYT students are encouraged to participate in our traditional 9-week session.

Workshop Track will offer a variety of classes (or workshops) located primarily in our South & East areas. The Workshop Track is open to any CYTKC student age 11-18, regardless of area. Enroll in the Workshop Track and attend as many (or as few) workshops as your schedule allows - giving you more flexibility and variety. Workshops will be taught by experienced teachers as well as visiting artists and theater professionals. View Spring Workshops HERE.

Mark your calendars for your student's showcase performance! This is an opportunity for your student to shine and show parents a dynamic snapshot of what they have learned in their class. Showcase is presented the last week of each session.

"CYT has been a place where my child feels safe, loved respected and listened to. CYT has shaped her love for the arts and helped her to grow as a child of God. The adult mentors certainly have helped her grow with God."

If you withdraw your child from a class prior to the second week of class, your tuition will be refunded less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after the second class or to a student who auditions for a show.

Registration Information
Classes and teachers are subject to change. If a class fills, waiting lists will be kept and students enrolled in the order that a registration was received if an opening becomes available.

Attendance Policy
If your student will be missing more than two classes, please contact the Class Coordinator. If your student will be missing the final class/Showcase, please make sure to notify the class coordinator AND teacher during the first class.

Auditioning for a musical production
Students who are ages 8-18 and enrolled in at least one class during the curent session are eligible to audition for any of the productions in that session. Go to SHOWS for more information.

PLEASE NOTE: Students who are cast in a production are required to attend their CYT classes for the entire 9-week session and participate in Class Showcase. All communication regarding absences must be done by contacting the Class Coordinator.

Should a student’s attendance in classes (or rehearsals) become an issue, he/she will be subject to replacement in the production in which he/she is cast. Special consideration may be granted regarding absences due to illness, family emergency, and/or unforeseen school functions. In these instances, please make requests to the Class Coordinator as promptly as possible for consideration.

Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather and/or poor road conditions, classes/rehearsals may be canceled for the safety of our students. Cancellations due to weather will be posted on our website: Many times the weather may be dangerous in the mornings, but by class/rehearsal time, road conditions are fine. A decision will be made by 3pm regarding any cancellation of evening activities. If class/rehearsal is canceled for any reason, an email will be sent to all participants. Updates can also be found on CYT’s website:, as well as on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. We always encourage checking our website first for the most up-to-date cancellation information.
PLEASE NOTE: CYT Kansas City does not credit, refund, or pro-rate tuition for classes canceled due to inclement weather.
