Class Description

Have you ever read a great book and thought “Whoa!  This should totally be a movie!” Or have you ever wondered how writers create jingles/commercials that we still remember years later?  It takes a great story, knowing your audience, and a little bit of magic to develop a script for a commercial that connects with an audience, a jingle that motivates you to go shopping, or a memorable episode of a series.  Come try your hand at writing scripts in this class where we will watch and analyze commercials, listen to jingles, and discuss our favorite shows and what sets them apart from all the rest.  Then, as a class, we will create new pseudo-products, jingles, scripts and commercials using a green screen, Adobe Suite and We Video.  This is a beginning level class, with plenty of room for growth for students who may have prior experience with these skills (writing, filming, editing, etc).

Minnie Beechner

Minnie is an ELA and Social Studies teacher at Aubry Bend Middle School by day and a Supermom and CYT Teacher by night! But wait...there's more! She not only teaches improv, but has been known to perform on the World Famous improv team, The Argon Ship, with CYT KC's own Artistic Director, Gina Milbourn and fellow teacher, Jeff Yarnell. Minnie and her four boys have been involved with CYT for over a decade. We are thrilled to have her teach with us again!
