Class Description

Note:  You must be an active student at Our Lady of the Presentation to participate in this class.

Are you ready for the unexpected? Do you jump at the chance to wing it in front of an audience? This class is the class for you! Improv is just acting without a script, but not without a plan. Create drama, humor and stories on the spot. This class will give you the basic principles of improvisation and give you the confidence to embrace everything that is thrown at you when you don't have a script in your hands. Learn team building skills that will strengthen your ability to play with your partners on stage. In this class, you will learn how to live in the moment and confidently say, “Yes!” to anything.

I have a BA in Communication, Film Emphasis, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I have been writing professionally for over 6 years. I have written, directed, produced, edited and otherwise contributed to over 40 films, short and long, narrative and documentary. I worked as a camera and sound operator for the travel TV show Just Down the Road, and do freelance video and editing work for Cinematic Visions, a production company in Lee’s Summit. I am currently the Director of Operations for US Insourcing, a business planning company in downtown Kansas City. I manage operations while also completing writing, design and research projects for clients all over the world. I have taught for CYTKC for 9 years and am an alumnus. And sometimes I teach.
