Class Description

If you are new to dance and don’t have any formal dance class training, this is the class for you! During this class we will take you through all of the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz before continuing in another class. Focus will be on strength, stamina, flexibility, and the basic core knowledge needed before advancing into higher levels. Any new dancer must take this class before enrolling in another dance class if they have never taken a dance class before or if it has been a few years since taking a class. This will be the prerequisite for all level two and beginner classes.

Teacher:

Hope Goertzen

Hope Goertzen began dancing at age 6 with AngelFeet Dance Studio in south central Kansas. Here she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointé and was member of the touring Ministry Team. After interning at The Washington Ballet at THEARC in Washington D.C., Hope found her calling to teach dance while assisting with the DanceDC program. While pursuing her bachelors at Kansas State University she performed at many venues including the Kansas Dance Festival in 2013, The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, the Kansas State Fair, and many others. Hope was a member of the K-State Tap Dance Ensemble, the Kansas State Theater Organization and received her bachelors in theater with a concentration in dance. Hope has taught for CYT in the dance studio since 2015 and has choreographed four CYT shows: James and the Giant Peach, Wizard of Oz, Annie Warbucks & Madagascar. She looks forward to growing with the CYT family and whatever opportunities come in the future!
